Overview
ShopNavigator ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify application that provides a storefront shopping assistant for merchants. This policy describes how we collect, use, and delete data when merchants install the app and when their customers use the chat widget.
Data we collect
Merchant data
- Shop domain and Shopify access token (encrypted at rest)
- Product catalog, collections, store policies, and FAQs synced from Shopify
- Widget appearance and knowledge-base settings
- Billing plan and subscription status via Shopify Billing API
Customer data (store visitors)
- Chat messages and session identifiers
- Optional name and email when provided in the widget
- Order number and email when using order lookup (processed via Shopify Admin API)
- Page URL and search queries for analytics
How we use data
- Power product search, policy answers, FAQs, and order status in the chat widget
- Provide analytics and reports to the merchant in the app admin
- Maintain app security, billing, and support
We do not sell customer data. We do not use third-party LLM services to generate chat responses — answers are rule-based from your synced catalog and knowledge base.
Data retention & deletion
- When a merchant uninstalls the app, we deactivate the store immediately and delete all shop data within 48 hours via Shopify's
shop/redactwebhook. - When a customer requests deletion, we redact visitor identifiers and message content via Shopify's
customers/redactwebhook. - Conversation history on the Starter plan is limited to 30 days; higher plans retain history until uninstall or redaction.
Subprocessors
- Shopify — commerce platform, OAuth, billing, order lookup
- Supabase — encrypted database hosting (merchant and chat data)
- Vercel — application hosting
Your rights
Merchants can request access to or deletion of data by uninstalling the app or contacting us. Customers should contact the merchant store owner; merchants can forward GDPR requests to us at contact@blackpearlinfosoft.com.
